At Urani, our aim is to deliver state-of-the-art MEV minimization on the application layer, enabling uniquely secure trading on Solana.
The principle of Urani Swap is straightforward: it harnesses the power of intents, a type of order flow auction mechanism where a user submits an off-chain signed message containing information for the Urani Protocol to execute the trade on their behalf.
Additionally, inspired by the world of extreme sports, where enmity and friendship coexist amidst thrilling moments, Urani Arena provides the ultimate real-time visual infrastructure for order auction competition.
Born with a Bang
Urani Labs was founded on March 10, 2024, during the Solana Colosseum Hackathon by:
- Mia, a crypto-native astrophysicist Ph.D., principal engineer, and researcher in the Ethereum MEV space since 2022,
- Starlight, a chemist and senior frontend engineer specializing in FinTech,
- zxSage, a security and infrastructure engineer with a decade of experience, and
- Giulia, a NASA PhD student optimizing aerospace systems who hung out with the team just for the event.
The team gathered in Kreuzberg, the heart of Berlin's industrial revolution and activism, where they joined SuperteamDE and won first place in their competition.

Within less than two months of its existence, Urani won first place at Solana Colosseum Hackathon's DeFi track and was invited to join its accelerator — an impressive achievement considering that only ten of the 1,071 projects were selected.

By offering no slippage and limit orders by design, a competitive liquidity marketplace, and novel price optimization, Urani establishes a positive-sum game for all parties involved: users, MEV agent operators, market makers, DEXs, aggregators, or any liquidity sources.
Anyone can become an MEV agent operator and deploy their preferred strategy to compete for order batches (we call it "bring your favorite strategy," or BYFS). The competition runs a little less than a second, and the winning operator takes a part of the surplus (the rest goes back to the users).
